A full day in Amsterdam with four themes, from Looking Up to Virtuous or Vicious, and a jury that chose one favourite together.
On Saturday 13 September 2025 the race returned to Amsterdam for a full day, with four themes: Looking Up, Figures in the Chaos, Self-Indulging Reflections and Virtuous or Vicious. Racers received their first theme and went out into the small streets and open squares of the city, from the morning light on the canals to the cyclists moving through the crowds.
Each theme asked for something else: Looking Up for what happens above eye level, Figures in the Chaos for people in the constant movement of the city, Self-Indulging Reflections for mirrors and for a look inward, and Virtuous or Vicious for moral and visual contrasts.
The jury, photographers Randy Fokke, Bas Losekoot and Claire Felicie, read every series. The nominees and winners were also published in Dutch Street Magazine, and there was prize money of €250, €120 and €70 for the three best photographers and €50 for each theme winner.
Niels van de Laar won Best Photographer, ahead of Marco Bollaart and Anna Linmans. The themes went to Rini Braber (Looking Up), Edwin Kommerkamp (Figures in the Chaos), Bram Busink (Self-Indulging Reflections) and Daniel Porter (Virtuous or Vicious). All three jurors chose the same photograph as their favourite, from Marco Bollaart's series for Self-Indulging Reflections.
