The first race in three sizes, six, twelve and twenty-four hours, with an Olympus Touch & Try contest on the day.
The third Urban Photo Race in Rotterdam, on Saturday 8 June 2019, was the first in three sizes: S, six hours and three themes; M, the classic twelve hours from 10:00 to 22:00 with six themes; and L, the first 24-hour UPR, with ten themes for the night walkers. Everyone started together at Lebkov & Sons by Rotterdam Centraal, the checkpoints included the Santa Claus statue on the Eendrachtsplein and the Food Hallen, and the L racers finished at The Student Hotel the next morning.
The ten themes, in the order they were set: Timing is everything, Stranger than fiction, We will meet again, The real you, All straight up, Abandoned, Go-getters, Dark matters, Night angels and Early birds.
Olympus joined with a Touch & Try contest: racers who finished S, M or L could borrow an Olympus E-M10 Mark III for an hour and make three photographs on one theme, and the best, chosen by Fokko Muller, won the camera they had used.
Racers and team fought the weather and the long hours into the night together, and there were many tired but smiling faces. The team thanked its partners and the local team, Iwona Montel, Arjan Boerlage and Jurgen Onland, who did far more than anyone asked.
