Inaugural Rotterdam edition. A record number of registrations and six themes, establishing Rotterdam as a permanent UPR fixture.
The very first edition of the Urban Photo Race Rotterdam. The stage was set, and the team was in for a ride.
Expanding UPR to a new city is something the team dreams about and equally dreads, hard-won after years of experience, still approached with excitement. None of it happens without the local team, who went beyond expectations to make it happen: thank you to Francisca Snel, Iwona Montel and Arjan Boerlage.
Rotterdam was the obvious choice for a Dutch expansion of the UPR concept, but the response still came as a surprise. Its first edition broke the registration record, drawing people from abroad as well as locals who'd been waiting to see it happen in their own city. UPR Rotterdam was here to stay.
Zaterdag weer een leuke dag gehad. Ondanks dat ik vaker foto's maak in Rotterdam, toch door de UPR weer op plekken geweest waar ik nog niet eerder geweest was.
Exhibition
A cosy, warm atmosphere, a neat space, and creative people. The first of what became an annual UPR Rotterdam exhibition.
