Whether before the race, at checkpoints, or after the event, there’s ample time to engage in conversations, relax, and exchange insights with peers.

Explore the City: The Urban Photography Race (UPR) provides an exciting chance to discover the city in a way you've never experienced before. As you navigate through the streets, guided towards various checkpoints, you'll uncover hidden gems and view the city from fresh, new perspectives.

Challenge Yourself: Throughout the Urban Photography Race, photographers are presented with thematic challenges designed to push their creative boundaries and hone their skills. This dynamic approach not only enhances your photographic abilities but also allows for your work to be evaluated by a panel of professional judges.

JURY MEMBERS

Maria Mosconi

Maria Mosconi was already a trained  musician when she discovered photography in 2016. She feels very quickly that the camera will be her new instrument and composes her photographic series like a score, a personal and accessible reading, in harmony with her musical universe.  Between portraits of international artists and long-form documentaries telling intimate and universal stories, her photographic work is published in the French and international press.

With a literary baccalaureate and viola studies at the Paris Conservatoire and then the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Lyon, Maria has always been immersed in art, and her sensitivity to music and literature is reflected in her photographic work. She joined the agency Studio Hans Lucas in 2018, and trained in portraiture and character photography at École des Gobelins in 2019, and in 2022-2023 with photographers Sylvie Hugues and Flore in the FotoMasterclass par l''Oeil de l'Esprit .

In 2022 she became a member of the Le Bal des Rejetons collective. Official photographer for several international classical music competitions, including Long-Thibaud and La Maestra, she regularly collaborates with the Opéra de Versailles, Opéra Garnier, Seine Musicale, Philharmonie de Paris, Auditorium de Radio France, Cité de la Musique, Arte Concert and Lettre du Musicien. She creates visuals and album covers for numerous labels: Warner Classic, Aparté,

Nomad Music, ACT, Klarthe, Anima Records, Éditions Hortus, Label Paraty, and works with international artists and musical ensembles with the heightened sensitivity of someone who has experienced them from the inside. For the past few years , she has been working on a long-term documentary on the intimacy of a woman, her mother, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease. In 2022, the

'Francesca' series was shortlisted at the World Press Photo in the long-term projects category, published in Rhythms Monthly magazine, finalist for the Prix Mentor 2022, finalist for the Prix Roger Pic and the World Report Award. In 2023, she published her documentary work on classical musicians, 'Partitions Singulières', in a collective work published by Éditions de Juillet.

Denis Meyer

Denis Meyer has worked for 15 years in the Social and Solidarity Economy sector and has been an activist in several non-violent struggle collectives linked to civil disobedience. Since his reconversion to photography in 2016, he has led documentary projects around the world, landscapes and portraits intertwine in his work. He is the author of numerous series such as The Silent Epidemic where he explores the consequences of mass tourism in Iceland, The Survivors a reflection on domestic violence in rural areas, or The Last Illyrians where he highlights an endangered community.

His documentary work is nourished by his commissions for the international press and NGOs and conversely, he explores societal issues and shares his questions. In his work, the aesthetic dimension goes hand in hand with the desire to build a story. He collaborates with GEO, Le Monde, National Geographic, Stern, Der Spiegel, Libération, L'Obs, Paris-Match, 6MOIS, Society, ELLE, Causette, Les Inrockuptibles, Greenpeace, Amnesty International... He is a member of the Hans Lucas agency and of the Extra-Muros press collective, with which he builds bridges with journalists from various media.

His work has been exhibited in numerous festivals and institutions (L'Oeil Urbain, Les Photographiques du Mans, Europa Nantes, Les Azimutés d'Uzès, Barrobjectif, Ligue des Droits de l'Homme...). He regularly takes part in artistic and journalistic residencies on the transmission and education of media (FLUX journalistic residency, Média-Drama artistic residency, Visa pour l'image international photojournalism centre cross-research residency). He also teaches a course on the Semiology of the image applied to journalism to students at the University of Paris-Cergy.

Philippe Blayo

Born and living near Paris, Philippe Blayo has deep roots in the peripheral regions of France. As both a psychologist and a photographer, his work focuses on the delicate balance between humans and their environment, whether urban, suburban, or natural. He often draws inspiration from American photography to capture urban landscapes, street scenes, and natural vistas.

Philippe's approach is more suggestive than demonstrative. His images are designed to provoke questions rather than provide answers. He enjoys highlighting subtle imbalances in ordinary scenes, allowing viewers to form their own interpretations of reality.

His work has been exhibited in various galleries, including Galerie Rastoll, Leica Store, and Galerie des Photographes in Paris, Galerie Le Lac Gelé in Nîmes, and Galerie Ephémère in Arles. Additionally, he has participated in numerous photography festivals in France and the United States, such as L’Œil Urbain, the Miami Street Photography Festival, and Street Photo San Francisco.

Author of American Decorum (Editions Trans Photographic Press, 2024) and La photo de rue par l’exemple (KnowWare Edition, 2019).

TEAM UPR PARIS

Annette Schwichtenberg.png

Annette Schwichtenberg

1st Urban Photo Race Paris Coordinator, I am a member of photoclub Paris Val-de-Bièvre for many years now, as a photographer and workshop animator.

In my time-off, I travel, often solo and take photographs of places both strange and quiet. I like to lose myself in a book or a map and have a great passion for hiking and endurance sports. Apart from these precious mind and body escapes, I work in publishing for an international organisation.

Anterion Frederic

Photography is a long life companion, from my 1st Kodac Retinette to a digital camera, from Parisian streets to far-off countries, so many faces and landscapes captured, so much progress made!

I live my passion for photography as a photographer and animator at the Photoclub Paris Val-de-Bièvre since 2009, but I am also very fond of jazz and classical music, and play the guitar.

After a long career in the IT industry, I have launched my own consulting business, BRAINNOV, in artificial intelligence, the next revolution!

Gilles Hanauer

I have been vice-president of the Photo-club Paris Val-de-Bièvre for a long time, after a long career in a multinational company. So, I have had the chance to travel around the world and especially to Japan (about fifty times). That is why I have initiated a partnership 13 years ago with a photo club from Kobe to organize exhibitions in France and Japan, every year. I had the chance to be a photo judge in Japan, to guide photographers from the Paris club there. In addition, I have written novels, short stories, poems, photo books (cf. Amazon).

And I try to keep my eyes open!”

Sandrine Bouillon

The revelation came in 2010.

Since then, my passion for photography has continued to grow and refine through workshops, exhibitions and readings.

I have exhibited at a number of festivals and shows. In my series, I try to express the beauty of life, peace and gentleness.

I also love the magic of cinema, poetry, philosophy, the infinite exploration of spirituality and the connection with nature.

I’m also a computer engineer.
