Urban Photo Race 2025 – Celebrating 15 Years!
This year, Urban Photo Race marks its 15th anniversary, and we’re celebrating with at least two races in 2025!
UPR AMSTERDAM September 13th
Amsterdam is where it all began in 2011! This 2025 edition is extra special as we’re teaming up with Street Photography Festival Amsterdam. The winners of the Amsterdam race will be announced during the festival in mid-October.
🏁 Race Starting Point – Amsterdam
We will kick off the race in Amsterdam, right in front of the artwork located at the entrance of the Dutch National Opera & Ballet (address: Amstel 3, 1011 PN Amsterdam).
📍 The location is easily accessible by public transport—take the metro to Waterlooplein station, which is just a short walk from the starting point.
Look out for the UPR beachflag, which will mark the exact meeting point and help you find us easily!
We are exited to announce that this year we have a collaboration with Amsterdam Streetphotography Festival (https://www.instagram.com/amsterdam.spf/) held on October 11th and 12th. The winners of the race in Amsterdam will be announced on the second day of the festival. We will keep you all posted!

JURY UPR AMSTERDAM
RANdY FOKKE
Photography is, for me, a way to observe the world from a distance while simultaneously being part of it. In my photos, I look for the extraordinary in the everyday. The street is my favorite subject; I enjoy capturing people who operate alone, who are both visible and invisible at the same time. Small islands in the bustle of the city.
BAS LOSEKOOT
Bas Losekoot is an artist and photographer, concerned with socio-cultural issues in cities around the world. With an intuitive eye, he visualizes the human experience in modern megacities. Working with cinematographic apparatus, he is challenging our understanding of reality in everyday city-life as well as the limited narrative potential of representations of truth in documentary photography.
CLAIRE FELICIE
I'm an Amsterdam-based photographer who began taking photos at 18 and launched my professional career with In the Forecourt, a series featuring my own children. My project Here Are The Young Men—portraits of Dutch marines around their deployment to Afghanistan—received international acclaim and is permanently exhibited at NATO Headquarters. Since then, I’ve focused on the military profession, traveling to (post-)war zones and publishing four photo books.
